Joelle Lien, Associate Professor of Music, teaches undergraduate and graduate music education courses and supervises graduate student research at the University of Utah. She holds Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees from Arizona State University and the Bachelor of Music Education from South Dakota State University. Prior to attending graduate school, she served for six years as the band director for grades 5-12 in a rural school district in South Dakota. Joelle is a life-long learner who thinks fun is essential, and she especially enjoys working with undergraduate and graduate students in applied ethics in music education.
